On July 3, a naval fleet consisting of China's first domestically built aircraft carrier, Shandong, guided-missile destroyers Yan'an and Zhanjiang, and guided-missile frigate Yuncheng slowly entered Hong Kong waters via the East Lamma Channel, commencing a five-day visit.
The Transport and Logistics Bureau today (July 3) posted on social media to remind the public that, in connection with the special event, temporary restricted flight zones will be established from July 3 to July 7 in areas including the East Lamma Channel, western anchorages of Victoria Harbour, Victoria Harbour itself, and the Lei Yue Mun Channel. All aircraft are prohibited from entering these zones, including airplanes, helicopters, small drones, and other types of flight activities.
To remind citizens and tourists of the legal requirements under the Small Unmanned Aircraft Order, the Civil Aviation Department, together with the police, conducted a publicity campaign today along the Central and Western District Promenade, distributing leaflets to remind the public to comply with the regulatory requirements and operational rules of the Order.
The Transport and Logistics Bureau stressed that all small drones, whether for recreational or commercial purposes, must comply with the requirements of the Order. Before operating small drones, users should check the eSUA platform for the latest flight information and must not illegally fly drones within restricted flight zones or in situations that may compromise aviation safety.
The Civil Aviation Department and the police urged the public not to break the law, warning that those convicted could face a maximum penalty of two years' imprisonment and a fine of HK$100,000.
