Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau met the media this afternoon (July 2), accompanied by Under Secretary for Health Libby Lee, incoming Under Secretary for Health Cecilia Fan, and Hospital Authority Chairman Mr Henry Fan.
Lo noted that during his approximately three-year tenure, he had to search for suitable Under Secretary candidates twice - a process he described as both "difficult and easy". The difficulty lay in finding truly capable talents, while he particularly emphasized whether candidates were "committed at heart".
He remarked that both the outgoing Lee and incoming Fan possess extensive clinical and management expertise in their respective fields.
As Lo explained, the Under Secretary for Health cannot be merely a political figure - professional medical knowledge and capabilities are far more crucial. Moreover, both women have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the role, recognizing Hong Kong's urgent need for healthcare reform while bringing their own visionary perspectives.
