The paper crafting technique is a traditional folk art with a long history. It was inscribed Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of HK in 2017. Artisans skilled in this craft use materials such as bamboo, split bamboo, iron wires, tissue paper, and cloth to create intricate paper effigies.

These pieces are crafted through four key procedures: frame creation, paper mounting, painting decorative patterns, and decorating. The finished works are often used for decorations during festive events or as offerings in religious rituals.

The stamps are beautifully illustrated and are of great collector's value and commemorative significance. (Hongkong Post)

To promote this unique cultural heritage, Hongkong Post will issue a set of four special stamps, two stamp sheetlets, and other philatelic products under the theme "Intangible Cultural Heritage – Paper Crafting Technique". The initiative aims to deepen public understanding of this traditional folk craft.

Starting tomorrow (June 12), first-day covers for the special stamp series will be available at all post offices and the Hongkong Post online shop, "ShopThruPost." For more details about this special stamp series and related products, visit the Hongkong Post Stamps webpage.
