Elon Musk escalated his criticism of US President Donald Trump's tax plan on June 4, urging Americans via social media to contact their lawmakers and "kill" the controversial bill. Musk, in a direct rebuke, stated, "Bankrupting America is NOT ok!"

The billionaire entrepreneur has previously expressed concerns about the tax plan, contending that it undermines his cost-cutting initiatives at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and will significantly expand the federal deficit.
Musk's comments came after the US House of Representatives, led by a Republican majority, narrowly passed the tax and spending bill on May 22. The legislation, dubbed the "Big and Beautiful" tax plan, is slated to move to the Senate for further debate.
The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russell Vought dismissed Musk's criticism, claiming that the proposal would neither increase the deficit nor harm the national debt. However, critics argue that the bill poses significant risks to healthcare policies and could exacerbate the nation's financial challenges.
The proposed legislation aims to slash US$4 trillion in taxes over the next decade while cutting at least US$1.5 trillion in federal spending.
