The Hong Kong MTR Corporation is recruiting temporary staff to promote escalator safety during the summer.
Escalator-related accidents are a recurring issue in HK, sparking debates over whether passengers should adopt the "stand on the right, walk on the left" practice or simply "stand still on both sides."
To enhance escalator safety awareness and manage the increased passenger flow during the summer, the MTR Corporation is hiring for two temporary roles: "Temporary Escalator Safety Assistant" and "Temporary Escalator Safety Supervisor."
Although the positions are temporary, the wages are attractive, with the assistant role offering an hourly rate of HK$75 and the supervisor role paying up to HK$93. The primary responsibility of these roles is to promote and guide passengers on safe escalator usage. The positions are open for approximately one month.
The Temporary Escalator Safety Assistant will assist passengers in using escalators properly, observe and record usage patterns, and conduct surveys. On the other hand, the Temporary Escalator Safety Supervisor will take on additional responsibilities, such as preparing duty rosters, supervising assistants, and handling administrative tasks.
The application requirements differ for the two roles. Applicants for the assistant position must have completed the HK Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) or possess equivalent qualifications, along with at least one year of relevant experience. For the supervisor position, candidates must have two years of relevant experience and basic computer skills. Proficiency in Cantonese, English, and basic Mandarin is preferred for both roles.
