U.S. President Donald Trump traveled from Saudi Arabia to Qatar, where he held a two-hour closed-door meeting with Qatar's Emir and Head of State Tamim, discussing the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the Iranian nuclear talks and other issues. After the meeting, the two sides witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation agreements in the areas of trade, defense and other areas.
The White House said the U.S. and Qatar signed agreements worth more than US$240 billion, including a US$96 billion contract between Qatar Airways and U.S. manufacturer Boeing for the purchase of as many as 210 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Boeing 777Xs, Boeing's largest-ever aircraft order.
On the defense front, Qatar's purchases from the U.S. include nearly US$2 billion worth of drones and about US$1 billion worth of anti-drone weapon systems.
