The cold front over the northern part of Guangdong is moving southwards gradually, according to the Hong Kong Observatory. The associated showers and severe squally thunderstorms are expected to affect the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary in the afternoon to evening today (April 12).
Showers will be heavier in some areas, and there will also be violent gusts. Under the influence of the northeast monsoon associated with the cold front, local winds will strengthen from the north by then, with winds offshore and on high ground occasionally reaching gale force.
Temperatures will drop significantly to a minimum of around 17 degrees tomorrow morning.
HKO reminded that members of the public should take note of the latest weather information before departing or engaging in outdoor activities.
