On April 5, more than 150 groups across the US staged nationwide "Hands Off" demonstrations to protest President Donald Trump and his ally Elon Musk over policies and actions on government structure, the economy, human rights, and foreign affairs.
Reports indicate that protesters voiced dissatisfaction with various Trump administration policies, including immigration, government downsizing, and tariffs. Over 600,000 people reportedly signed up to participate in 1,200 protests nationwide, marking the largest single-day protest since Trump took office earlier this year.
On April 4, California Governor Gavin Newsom also announced that he was seeking agreements with other countries to shield California from retaliatory measures stemming from Trump's escalating trade war.
