The announcement by the United States to impose "reciprocal tariffs" on all its trading partners has sent a shockwave through the market, and immediately attracted global condemnation, with a number of U.S. trading partners expressing their strong dissatisfaction and clear opposition.
In order to protect its legitimate interests, China announced a series of measures on April 4 (Beijing time) to counteract the tariffs. These measures include the imposition of a 34% tariff on all U.S.-origin imports, the imposition of export controls on middle rare-earth elements, and the filing of a complaint against the U.S. at the World Trade Organization (WTO) for "reciprocal tariffs".
