
According to a new poll conducted by Nature, an American academic magazine, more than 75% of the 1,600 researchers interviewed are considering leaving the United States for development, reflecting the academic community's concern about the deterioration of the local research environment.
After Trump took office, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) cut billions of dollars worth of research funding, and a number of U.S. universities cooperating with the NIH were forced to close research projects and lay off researchers. The director of the NIH Center for Human Immunology said, "I've spent 30 years in the U.S. working at NIH, and it's being attacked. The consequences are not just for the U.S., but for the entire world."
