
The HKSAR Government dispatched a 51-member rescue team to Myanmar on Friday (March 28) after a massive earthquake measuring 7.9 magnitude struck the country. The Security Bureau updated the latest situation today (April 1) at 8:30 am. The SAR rescue team started searching and rescuing immediately after arriving in Mandalay yesterday. After coordinating with other teams, the team went to various areas to conduct on-site assessments and quick search, and carried out rescue operations in two disaster areas, Chan Aye Thar San and Mahar Aung Myay.



The Security Bureau said the rescue team dispatched an 11-member squad last night to assist in the search and rescue using technical search tools and blasting tools at a building near Mandalay Palace. The search and rescue operation, which was conducted overnight, is still ongoing.
