MTR announced today (March 14) that starting from March 22, which is next Saturday, the "China T-Union" will be introduced as a payment option for fares on the heavy train network, providing more choices for visiting travelers using the MTR.
MTR stated that the current entry and exit gates support Octopus cards, QR code tickets, contactless credit cards, and physical or electronic single journey tickets. From March 22 onwards, each station on the heavy train network will have at least two entry and exit gates equipped with the "China T-Union" payment function. The gates will be marked with the "China T-Union" logo, allowing drivers to simply tap their "National Transportation Card" on the Octopus card reader at the gate to gain access.
The MTR reminds passengers that the fare using the "China T-Union Card" is the same as that for an adult Octopus card. The fare will be deducted from the RMB stored value on the "China T-Union Card" and converted to Hong Kong dollars for settlement. Passengers must ensure that their card balance is not less than RMB 50 to enter through the gates. Passengers need to note that the MTR stations currently do not offer RMB top-up services.
