
A fatal traffic accident occurred in Sha Tin last night (Feb. 24). At 6:45 p.m. last night, a 69-year-old man was driving a minibus in a westerly direction along Sui Wo Road when it reached a pedestrian crossing near the junction of Sui Wo Road and Lai Wo Lane, and reportedly knocked down an 82-year-old man who was crossing the road. The man fell unconscious and was taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital, where he later died.
Police said the minibus driver failed a rapid oral fluid test and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and dangerous driving causing death, and is being detained for investigation. The special investigation team of the Traffic New Territories South is following up the case.
