
According to CCTV News, Myanmar's Information Team of the State Administration Council confirmed that on the morning of Feb. 20, local time, Myanmar handed over 200 Chinese nationals from the Myawaddy telecom fraud park in the Mae Sot area near the Thai border.
Preliminary investigations and confessions from the individuals revealed that most of them were victims of human trafficking and had been coerced into participating in illegal activities such as telecom fraud and online gambling.
On the morning of Feb. 20, a Chinese charter flight landed at Mae Sot Airport on the Thai-Myanmar border to transport the first group of repatriated Chinese nationals from the Myanmar fraud park. After boarding, the first charter flight has since departed the airport.
In addition to the initial flight, several more charter flights are scheduled to arrive at Mae Sot Airport to continue the repatriation process for other individuals.
