According to information from the Intellectual Property Department, as reported by Ming Pao, Kangaroo Limited, the owner of the Keeta trademark under Meituan (03690), has submitted applications to register two new trademarks: "KeeMart" and "keeta drone." This move suggests the company may be planning to expand into the online supermarket and household goods delivery market, as well as drone-based delivery services. Keeta has yet to comment on the matter.

Earlier, Meituan disclosed that its drone delivery service completed over 200,000 orders in 2024, operating across 53 routes.

Meanwhile, data from the local online shopping platform HKTVmall revealed a shift in consumer behavior. Due to a significant increase in outbound travel and changes in spending patterns among local residents and tourists, HKTVmall reported its first year-on-year decline in gross merchandise value (GMV) since the pandemic began. GMV fell by 0.6% in 2024 to HK$8.24 billion.

If Keeta enters the local supermarket and household goods delivery market, industry competition is expected to intensify further.
