
Hong Kong police have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of animal cruelty after his cat, which appeared to have suffered suspicious injuries, died at a veterinary clinic in Kwai Chung.
In the early hours of Feb. 18, staff at the Harvest Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital reported the case to the authorities. According to initial investigations, the man brought an adult cat, covered in blood and in critical condition, to the clinic the previous evening (Feb. 17). After examining the cat, the veterinarian found unusual injuries on its body. Despite medical efforts, the cat eventually succumbed to its injuries.
Hospital staff, suspecting the injuries were caused by abuse, reported the case to the police. Following an investigation, the case has been classified as an animal cruelty incident, and the cat's owner was arrested.
