Cat travels 1,000 miles back to reunite with owners after going missing in Yellowstone

A couple from Salinas, California, Benny Anguiano and his wife, Susanne Anguiano, were recently reunited with their beloved cat, Rayne Beau, after the pet went missing during a camping trip in Yellowstone National Park.

The cat, who disappeared into the woods in early June, miraculously made its way back after two months and was found over 320 kilometers from the couple's home.

The couple had taken Rayne Beau on their camping trip to Yellowstone, but the cat got spooked and ran off into the forest. Desperate to find their pet, the couple spent several days searching the woods, leaving out Rayne Beau's favorite snacks and toys in hopes of luring the cat back to their campsite. However, by the end of their trip, Rayne Beau had not returned, and the couple was forced to head back to California, heartbroken.

Susanne revealed that as the trip ended, they had no choice but to leave the campsite and return home. Then, 60 days later, the couple received an unexpected message from Pet Watch, a pet tracking company, informing them that Rayne Beau had been located at an animal shelter, around 322 kilometers from their home.

The couple immediately rushed to the shelter, where they learned that a local woman in Salinas had found Rayne Beau wandering alone on the streets. Believing the cat to be someone's pet, she took it to the shelter, where staff scanned its microchip and successfully contacted the owners.

Susanne expressed her heartbreak over Rayne Beau's condition. The cat had weighed around 14 pounds before going missing but was down to just 8 pounds when found. "He looked really exhausted," Susanne said, adding that Rayne Beau seemed to have run out of strength. She also expressed deep gratitude for the kind woman who rescued their cat.

While it remains unclear how Rayne Beau managed to make the journey from Yellowstone back to Salinas, the couple is overjoyed to have their pet safely back home.
