
A 57-year-old man was found unconscious on a hiking trail in Discovery Bay this morning (Feb. 17) and later pronounced dead at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.
The incident occurred around 10:52 a.m. when police received a report from a hiker who discovered the man collapsed near the Lo Fu Tau trail. The Government Flying Service dispatched a helicopter to the scene to rescue the victim and transport him to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for emergency treatment. It was reported that the victim, wearing cycling attire, required automated external defibrillation during the rescue but was pronounced dead at 12:20 p.m.
The deceased had set off from his home in Tuen Mun at 9 a.m. to meet friends for a cycling trip in Discovery Bay. His body was found lying next to his bicycle. Police are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
