Burglary attempt occurs in Cheung Chau, with one thief injured and two on the run
A burglary attempt occurred in Cheung Chau at 4:49 a.m. today (Dec. 16). The police received a report from a resident on Cheung Chau Sports Road.
The resident suspected that three men had entered their terrace and attempted to commit burglary.
After failure, they allegedly jumped to the ground to escape, but one of them accidentally injured his head and leg and collapsed in front of the resident's house. The other two fled in the direction of the Cheung Chau Sports Centre.
Responding personnel arrived on the scene and sent a 58-year-old man, who had fallen into a coma, to St. John Hospital for treatment, after which he was transferred to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.
Following a preliminary investigation, the police arrested the man for "attempted burglary", and he is currently being held for further investigation. The police are pursuing the other two accomplices, who were reportedly in dark clothing at the time of the incident.
