On Feb. 13, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that a regional immigration office received a fax claiming to blow up all middle schools in Seoul. Following the report, police are conducting an investigation.
The fax, written in Japanese, stated that bombs had been installed in all middle school campuses in the Seoul area and that they would be detonated at 4:33 pm on Feb. 14.
Authorities believe this incident is similar to a series of threatening emails and faxes targeting major institutions in South Korea since August 2023.
In addition to this case, police are also investigating 38 other incidents involving similar threats sent by someone impersonating a Japanese lawyer.
