Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu (Barbie Hsu, 徐熙媛) tragically passed away due to pneumonia complications from the flu while traveling in Japan during the Lunar New Year. Following her cremation in Japan, her ashes were transported back to Taiwan on February 5 via a private jet, personally escorted by her sister Dee Hsu (小S, 徐熙娣) and Barbie Hsu's husband, DJ Koo (具俊曄).

However, online rumors quickly spread, claiming that the chartered flight was arranged and paid for by Barbie Hsu's ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei (汪小菲). The speculation gained traction after Wang's mother, Zhang Lan (張蘭), liked and shared a viral video supporting this claim.

Social Media Controversy

A viral Chinese social media video alleged that Taiwanese media reported Wang Xiaofei covered the jet expenses, insisting that he "would never allow Barbie Hsu's ashes to be transported like cargo." The video suggested that Wang took the initiative to ensure a dignified return. Zhang Lan's endorsement of the video further fueled speculation.

Netizens were divided—some dismissed the claims as an attempt to gain credit, arguing that this was not the time for disputes over funeral expenses. Others believed the report, praising Wang for his support, with comments such as "He still truly loves Barbie Hsu" and "The ex-husband is proving more reliable."

Dee Hsu's Strong Denial

Amid the escalating rumors, Dee Hsu issued a harsh rebuttal through her manager on February 6, stating:

"Everything related to my sister's funeral, including the chartered flight, was arranged and paid for by our family. My husband Mike and I handled everything. I don't understand why this outright lie about Wang Xiaofei paying for the flight is circulating! God is watching over what you are doing, and my sister is watching from above—how can such intolerable falsehoods continue to spread?"

In addition to Dee's response, other close family members of Barbie Hsu also condemned Wang Xiaofei, accusing him of "shamelessly fabricating stories" for public sympathy. Reports indicate that the private jet was fully funded by Dee Hsu and her husband, Mike Xu (許雅鈞).

Private Jet Costs & Funeral Arrangements

Barbie Hsu's remains were flown back to Taiwan via a VistaJet private jet, arriving at 4 PM on February 5. The family has decided against holding a public funeral, opting instead to keep her ashes permanently at home.

According to VistaJet's official pricing, the hourly cost of chartering such a jet starts at $11,000 USD, with the total trip estimated to cost at least $43,800 USD.
