According to CCTV News, a new wildfire in northern Los Angeles County, California, rapidly spread on Jan. 22 due to strong winds, burning over 8,000 acres (32 square kilometers) and forcing approximately 19,000 residents to evacuate.
Officials warned residents in the Castaic Lake area of Los Angeles County that they were facing life-threatening conditions. The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that around 19,000 people received mandatory evacuation orders, while 16,000 were issued evacuation warnings.
Most of Southern California remains under a "red flag warning" due to extreme fire risk. Fire officials from Los Angeles County, California, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service stated that firefighters are actively responding. Approximately 1,100 firefighters have been deployed across Southern California to prevent the fire from spreading rapidly.
