It turns out there are dietary taboos when taking a plane! Recently, former flight attendant turned influencer Kat Kamalani shared online about the things she would never eat or drink on an airplane, urging passengers to avoid consuming coffee or tea provided on board as much as possible.
Through an Instagram Reel video, Kamalani claimed people should never drink any non-canned or non-bottled liquids on the aircraft.
She added that she strongly opposes drinking water from the aircraft's tanks because they are rarely cleaned.
In the video, Kamalani mentioned that the coffee machines on board are rarely cleaned, and they are usually placed next to the toilets.
Kamalani also shared a practical tip for parents who want to prepare baby bottles during the flight - don't take hot water and put it in baby's bottle.
She suggested that parents ask flight attendants for a bottle of water and a cup of hot water, use the bottled water to prepare the baby's milk, and then place the container in the cup to warm up the milk.
According to the Daily Mail, an American flight attendant shared with the newspaper last year some observations and professional advice, stating that the hot water pots on airplanes are rarely thoroughly cleaned, thus potentially becoming a breeding ground for bacteria. She also recommended only drinking cold beverages during the flight or purchasing a hot drink from the airport convenience store before boarding.
