Boeing output hit by strikes and safety problems
U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing delivered 348 planes last year, a year-on-year drop of about 34%, the lowest since the epidemic, and far fewer than competitor Airbus delivered 766 planes. Boeing's share price fell about 2% to close at US$167.02 on Jan. 14 (local time).
Boeing's 737 Max cabin door fell off in January last year, coupled with a mechanic's strike in the fall, making it difficult for the company to increase production and deliveries.
For the full year 2024, Boeing's order book totals 569 aircraft, well below the 1,456 orders in 2023. The order backlog at the end of 2024 is 5,595.
