Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin is preparing for the inaugural launch of its giant New Glenn rocket on Sunday (Jan. 12, US time).

This long-awaited mission marks a significant step toward achieving Earth orbit and poses a major challenge to Elon Musk's SpaceX, which currently dominates the industry.

Standing 30 stories tall, the New Glenn rocket has been a focal point for Blue Origin throughout its decade-long development. This multibillion-dollar project aims to meet the growing demand for satellite constellation launches while attempting to capture market share from SpaceX's Falcon 9, the industry's workhorse.
