HK Airlines resumes long-haul flights to Australia and Canada
Hong Kong Airlines has announced the resumption of its long-haul international services, with direct flights to Australia's Gold Coast and Canada's Vancouver set to launch on Jan. 17 and 18, respectively. This move signals the airline's re-entry into the long-haul market and a strategic shift from operating as a regional carrier to a full-fledged international airline.
In 2024, HK Airlines carried over 5 million passengers with an average load factor of approximately 85%, serving a network of over 30 destinations across the Asia-Pacific region.
The airline emphasized that the resumption of long-haul services reflects its confidence in Hong Kong International Airport's new three-runway system, which became fully operational on Nov. 28, 2024. The system is expected to handle up to 120 million passengers and 10 million tons of cargo annually.
