The Hong Kong International Airport opened its three-runway system today (Nov. 28), turning the original two-runway system into a three-runway operation. It is expected that the expanded airport will be able to handle 120 million passengers and 10 million tons of cargo per year by 2035, and the long-term capacity of the airport is expected to gradually increase from the current 69 aircraft movements per hour to 102 aircraft movements per hour.
Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) is very proud to take part in the commissioning of the three-runway system of Hong Kong International Airport today. The landing of a GBA aircraft, flying all the way from Zhoushan, on the North Runway, paralleled with the take-off of two other airlines' aircraft respectively from the Centre Runway and South Runway, marked this commemorative moment of Hong Kong's aviation history.
Ms. Liza Ng, CEO of GBA, said, "I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations on the successful commissioning of the Three-Runway System. As the youngest airline in Hong Kong, GBA is committed to building a stronger fleet and a wider network to meet the rising demand of our customers, enhance the city's connectivity to the world and help strengthen Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub, leveraging on Hong Kong's distinctive advantages of enjoying strong support of the Motherland and being closely connected to the world."
