Mainland actor Wang Xing was lost at the Thai-Myanmar border after joining a drama crew in Thailand. On Jan. 7, Wang, who arrived in Bangkok, Thailand after being rescued, recounted the process of his loss on the official police plane.

Wang said he did not know he was in Myanmar after crossing the river and did not realize he was in another country until he was escorted to the car by armed men.

He said at least 50 people were in the building he was in and another building with people from many countries. His hair was shaved by the fraudsters and everyone there had to shave their hair.

Wang told Thai police the same day that the extortion gang used the name of a famous Thai entertainment company to trick him into arriving at the airport.

The Actors Committee of China Federation of Radio and Television Association (CFRTA) advised actors and talent agencies to carefully verify the identity of the inviting parties and the nature of the work before engaging in cross-border work, according to a statement on its official Weibo account on Tuesday evening (Jan. 7).
