Thai media: Chinese actor Wang Xing found safe after disappearance in Thailand
On Jan. 5, the girlfriend of Chinese actor Wang Xing reached out for help via her social media account. She reported that her boyfriend had gone missing along the Thai-Myanmar border after traveling to Thailand for a film shoot. Wang Xing lost contact around 12 pm Beijing time on Jan. 3.
On the evening of Jan. 6, Thailand's 7HD Channel announced on social media that they had located the missing actor, confirming that he was currently in Myanmar and safe.
Reports indicate that Wang Xing is in good health and he will be handed over to Thai authorities on Jan. 7. 7HD Channel is noted for being the first television station in Southeast Asia to broadcast color television programs, operated under a licensing agreement with the Thai Royal Army, and is headquartered in Bangkok.
Thai netizens have pointed out that as an official media platform with ties to the military, the information released by 7HD Channel is considered reliable. Further updates are expected pending confirmation from official sources and Wang Xing's family.
The news of Wang Xing's disappearance garnered significant public attention, with related topics trending on Weibo. His girlfriend shared that before the incident, Wang Xing had received a group message about a job opportunity, successfully auditioned, and subsequently traveled to Thailand on Jan. 3 from Shanghai Pudong Airport, landing in Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport.
During their last communication from early morning to noon on Jan. 3, his girlfriend requested Wang Xing to send his location multiple times. However, he lost contact shortly after changing vehicles.
After Wang Xing went missing, his girlfriend contacted the Shanghai police, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, and the Consulate General in Chiang Mai for assistance, receiving two receipts for her inquiries. While gathering information, she connected with other actors who had similar experiences. On Jan. 6, she flew to Bangkok to file a report with local authorities.
Another Thai media reported on Jan. 6 that relevant personnel of the Immigration Bureau of Thailand said that Chinese actor Wang Xing entered Thailand by flight and then lost contact. Upon verification of various checkpoints in Thailand, no official exit record of his departure was found.
