Wang Xing rescued in Thailand: Many actors tricked into going overseas
Mainland actor Wang Xing, who was lost at the Thai-Myanmar border after joining a drama crew in Thailand, thanked the Thai government and immigration authorities in both Chinese and English in an interview on Jan. 7 after being rescued, and said that he would go to Thailand again if he had the chance.
In an interview with Thai officials in Tatmadaw, Wang Xing said he was grateful to the Thai government and immigration authorities for rescuing him and giving him a chance to return to China. He also said that Thailand is safe, so people don't need to worry, and that he will visit Thailand again when he has the chance. Wang Xing was then taken to Mae Sot Airport.
Some other actors and actresses actually have similar encounters with Wang Xing.
The mainland media reported that the mainland actor Fan Hu on the 27 of last month saw a group of news recruiting actors, and on Dec. 29 arrived in Thailand. He recalled, "I felt something was wrong when I got off the plane, and then I sent a message to the director through social media platforms to verify the recruitment information, and only then did I realize that it was a fake." Afterwards, Fan Hu and three other companions decided to keep the crooks at bay while leaving the hotel overnight and returning to China the next day.
In light of the recent incidents where several actors have been lured abroad and suffered damage to personal and financial safety, the Actors Committee of China Federation of Radio and Television Association (CFRTA) advised actors and talent agencies to carefully verify the identity of the inviting parties and the nature of the work before engaging in cross-border work, according to a statement on its official Weibo account on Tuesday evening.
The committee said it has been highly concerned about multiple actors recently being lured abroad by suspected fraudulent organizations under the pretense of filming movies and television shows, resulting in significant damage to their personal and financial safety, according to the statement.
The statement seriously reminds actors and talent agencies to carefully verify the identity of the inviting party and the nature of the work before engaging in cross-border work. The committee also recommends actors and agencies confirm with relevant organizations before signing any work contracts and says that the committee is ready to assist members with consultations.
