Jeju Air suspends Muan-Nagasaki flights until late March following tragic crash
Jeju Air has announced the suspension of its flights between South Korea's Muan Airport and Japan's Nagasaki Airport until late March, following a fatal crash involving one of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. According to a statement from Nagasaki Prefecture on Jan. 6, the decision was made due to safety concerns as the Muan-Nagasaki route uses the same aircraft model as the one involved in the recent accident.
The Muan-Nagasaki route, which was inaugurated on Dec. 10, 2024, has been temporarily halted after the tragic crash of Jeju Air Flight 7C2216. The flight, which departed from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed during landing at South Korea's Muan Airport at approximately 9:07 a.m. on Dec. 29, 2024. The accident claimed the lives of 179 people, including 175 passengers and 4 crew members. Only 2 crew members survived the crash.
