Caricature: Asking for lessons
South Korean investigators entered the presidential residence in Seoul on Friday morning (Jan. 3), aiming to arrest impeached and suspended President Yoon Suk-yeol. However, after more than five hours of standoff with presidential security guards, they eventually called off the operation and withdrew at 1:30 p.m.
According to The Guardian, a large crowd of Yoon's supporters gathered outside the presidential residence that day. Many waved American and South Korean flags, openly calling on US President-elect Donald Trump to intervene and protect Yoon. This blatant appeal for foreign interference in domestic affairs highlights the far-reaching influence of US far-right conspiracy theories, such as election fraud claims, in countries like South Korea.
