Dog orphaned after losing nine family members in Jeju Air crash finds new home
A tragic air crash in Jeju, South Korea, claimed the lives of 179 passengers, including an elderly man and eight members of his family, leaving behind their loyal dog, "Pudding." The dog's heartbreaking story, as it waited for its family to return, has captured widespread attention. Thankfully, Pudding has now been rescued and is under the care of an animal welfare organization.
According to South Korean media, the family of nine, including a 78-year-old man, his wife, two daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, were traveling to celebrate the man's 80th birthday in Thailand (by Korean age reckoning). Their return flight tragically ended in disaster.
After the crash, Pudding was spotted wandering near the family's empty home, eagerly watching cars entering the village, as if waiting for his owners to return.
Animal welfare group "Care" stepped in after learning about Pudding's plight. Rescuers found the dog surviving on scraps like chicken bones, onions, and kimchi. After some effort, Pudding grew to trust the rescue team and was safely taken in.
"Care" has confirmed that Pudding is in good health following a medical check-up and is currently under their temporary care until a permanent guardian is found. The organization has assured that Pudding is now safe and well cared for.
