Water main burst on Kwun Tong Road turning road into 'river'

Today (Jan. 2) at about 1:28 p.m., on Kwun Tong Road westbound off the Kwun Tong Industrial Center, there is a water pipe burst, with a large amount of yellow muddy water gushing out of the ground.

According to the Transport Department (TD), part of Kwun Tong Road (Mong Kok direction) near the roundabout of Hoi Yuen Road is still closed due to the burst water pipe.

Motorists can only use the remaining traffic lanes. At the same time, vehicles cannot enter the Hoi Yuen Road roundabout from Kwun Tong Road (Mong Kok direction). Motorists going to Hoi Yuen Road should consider using other roads instead. The site is currently heavily trafficked.

According to the TD, affected KMB bus routes 5R, 11X, 15A, 25R, 74D, 74E, 74F, 74P, 74X, 93K, 98A, 274X, 277A, 277E, 277P and 277X have to be diverted. Members of the public may refer to the bus companies' websites or mobile applications for the latest service conditions of individual bus routes.
