Tragedy on New Year's Day: Newlywed among three dead in fatal multi-vehicle crash
A tragic car accident on New Year's Day claimed three lives and left several others injured on the West Kowloon Highway. The crash involved a taxi and a private car carrying five passengers, all of Pakistani descent. Among the deceased is a newlywed man who had been married for just two days, leaving his grieving wife inconsolable.
The accident occurred around 1:44 a.m. when a taxi allegedly changed lanes abruptly and collided with a private car. The private vehicle subsequently lost control, crashing into a barrier before hitting another taxi and three parked cars. The 30-year-old Pakistani driver of the private car, identified as Ali, who was the sole breadwinner of his family, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the car, aged 33 and 34, also succumbed to their injuries shortly after being rushed to the hospital.
One of the victims, Adalat, 33, had recently returned to Hong Kong from the UK, where he worked as an Uber driver. Tragically, he died just two days after his wedding on Dec. 29.
