The online registration system for dental general public sessions (ORDGP) will come into operation on Dec. 30.
Members of the public will no longer need to queue in person at dental clinics to obtain a quota disc. As announced on Dec. 23, anyone who needs assistance with registration may visit any dental clinic offering general public sessions between 8:30 am and 11:30 am to register with the help of on-site staff, without needing to use their personal mobile phones or computers.
To cater to the needs of the elderly, the DH will allocate half of the quotas on a priority basis to individuals aged 65 and above. Those who do not receive a priority quota in the first round will join others in a ballot for the remaining quotas. The DH will also deploy additional manpower to assist the public with registration and use of the ORDGP.
The DH has established an extensive district network to support those in need, including District Health Centres, District Health Centre Expresses, Neighbourhood Elderly Centres, and District Elderly Community Centres under the Social Welfare Department, as well as District Councillors' offices, Community Care Teams, and dental clinics operated by 15 social welfare institutions or non-governmental organizations. To help the public better understand the online registration process, the DH has uploaded relevant introduction and demonstration videos to the Dental Public Session website for public viewing.
The spokesman from DH stressed, "When launching the ORDGP, we have taken into account the need to provide necessary assistance to facilitate registration, and we hope that the media can help deliver comprehensive and accurate information to the public."
