Two flight recorders from S. Korea's crashed passenger aircraft found
South Korea's transport ministry announced the retrieval of the flight recorders of the passenger aircraft that crashed earlier in the day.
The Jeju Air flight 7C2216, which took off from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed at Muan International Airport in South Korea at approximately 9:07 a.m. local time on Dec. 29. There were a total of 181 people on board, including 175 passengers and 6 crew members. 124 people have been reported dead so far.
South Korea's transport ministry stated at a press conference that prior to the accident, the airport control tower issued a bird strike warning to the flight crew. One minute later, the pilot issued a distress signal "MAYDAY", and the accident occurred about two minutes after that.
