Shenzhen Bay Port's 'document-free' channel marks first month of use by nearly 1 mn people
Since the opening of the "document-free" channel on Nov. 20, more and more passengers have chosen to "facial recognition" through the channel. According to the statistics of Shenzhen Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection Station, more than 900,000 passenger trips have been made through the Shenzhen Bay Port in a month, and the number of passenger trips made through the channel in a single day has reached a maximum of 46,000 trips, accounting for about 42% of the number of people who have passed through the expressway.
"I came here to try it on the first day of its opening, and I didn't have to 'take out' or 'scan' my pass, so I had a very good experience, and my daily commute is getting more and more convenient," a Hong Kong resident Ms. Wong said.
Its cross-boundary speed of less than 10 seconds has made travel between Shenzhen and Hong Kong more efficient.
According to statistics, in 2024, the Shenzhen Bay Port has seen more than 37.6 million passenger trips and 4.76 million vehicle trips, a year-on-year increase of 51% and 41% respectively.
