First weekend of face scan policy at Shenzhen Bay Port sees 140,000 crossings
Starting from November 20, the Shenzhen Bay Port has been trialing a new "facial recognition" boundary crossing policy, eliminating the need to present identification documents.
Yesterday (Nov. 23) marked the first weekend of this "face scan" system in operation. According to data from the Immigration Department, Shenzhen Bay Port recorded approximately 140,000 border crossings yesterday, with 62,000 entries into Hong Kong and 79,000 exits from Hong Kong.
In addition, nearly 133,000 mainland visitors entered Hong Kong yesterday. Close to 30,000 arrived via high-speed rail, around 29,000 through the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, approximately 21,000 through Shenzhen Bay, nearly 20,000 via the Lo Wu crossing, and about 12,000 through the Heung Yuen Wai Port.
