In a blog post today (Dec. 8), the Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, said that over the past two weeks or so, a series of exciting cultural, creative and design events had been held in Hong Kong one after another.

He noted that designers, brand owners and cultural entrepreneurs from all over the world who participated in the large-scale international cultural and creative events in Hong Kong highly recognized the quality, standard and capability of Hong Kong in terms of curation and event coordination.

Chan noted that the DesignInspire, a major event for the local cultural and creative design sector, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) over the past few days, and that one of the highlights of the event is its first-ever collaboration with the Maison & Objet (M&O), the leading international design fair in France.

Chan also mentioned that in recent years, whenever he visited different places such as Europe, the United States and the Middle East, apart from actively attracting investments and telling Hong Kong's story, he would also seek opportunities to visit the organizers of mega events, ranging from culture and creativity, finance to innovation and technology, and actively persuade them to host themed exhibitions or conferences in Hong Kong.

He added that the government is committed to coordinating the timing of different mega events to maximize efficiency and synergy. The annual flagship event for family offices will be held in March next year, along with Art Basel, ComplexCon Hong Kong 2025, the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market, the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens and other financial events, to enrich the experience of visitors and provide them with a better opportunity to experience Hong Kong's cultural and creative industries.
