HK temperatures to drop sharply this week
The Hong Kong Observatory has forecast a significant temperature drop this week as a strong northeast monsoon reaches Guangdong later today or early tomorrow (Nov. 26). The city will experience noticeably cooler weather, with minimum temperatures in urban areas expected to drop to 14-15°C from Wednesday to Friday. On Friday (Nov. 29), temperatures in Tai Po could fall as low as 11°C.
Weather Forecast Highlights
Today (November 25): Mostly cloudy with a few showers. Temperatures in urban areas will range between 20-23°C, with moderate to fresh easterly to northeasterly winds. Strong winds may occur occasionally offshore and in high areas.
Tomorrow (November 26): Strengthening northerly winds will bring cooler weather, with temperatures dropping to 17-21°C in urban areas.
Wednesday (November 27): A noticeable drop in temperatures, with urban areas reaching a low of 15°C and rural areas, such as Ta Kwu Ling, Shek Kong, and Tai Po, hitting 13°C. Daytime temperatures will rise to 19°C, with improved weather, becoming sunny and dry.
Thursday Morning (November 28): Suburban areas like Ta Kwu Ling and Tai Po are expected to reach 12°C, 2-3°C lower than urban areas. Daytime temperatures will rise to 19°C.
Friday Morning (November 29): Tai Po will experience a minimum of 11°C, with daytime temperatures climbing to 20°C, resulting in a 9°C temperature difference between day and night.
Residents are advised to dress warmly to avoid catching a cold, especially during the early mornings and evenings when temperatures will be at their lowest.
