Elon Musk remains world's richest as Tesla stock soars post-US election
After Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump secured victory in the 2024 US presidential election, Tesla CEO Elon Musk's wealth significantly increased, solidifying his position as the richest person in the world.
According to Newsweek, Musk's net worth surged by approximately US$20 billion, with around US$13 billion of the increase attributed to a sharp rise in Tesla's stock price. Based on Forbes' real-time billionaire rankings, Musk's current net worth is estimated to be around US$285.2 billion.
In addition, reports have surfaced that Musk donated nearly US$120 million to Trump's campaign. During his victory speech on November 6th, Trump praised Musk, calling him a "rising star" and a "super genius" while highlighting Musk's achievements with SpaceX.
