The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Today (Nov. 4), it announced on social media that it will open a café named "1974", which is the year of its establishment, on the first floor of its headquarters in North Point on Nov. 5.
The ICAC stated that the café will combine community education with the "ICAC Coffee" concept, making it open for public use. While enjoying ICAC coffee, citizens will also have the opportunity to learn more about ICAC's work and recent developments.
The promotion for the "1974" café includes several innovative approaches that break away from traditional filming methods. The promotional video is cinematic, evoking nostalgia for the 1970s. It features actress Cally Kwong Mei-Wan as the heroine.
The video references the filming style of the movie "In the Mood for Love" directed by Wong Kar-Wai and adapts the classic line by Tony Leung: If I had one more boat ticket, would you go with me?"
In the promotional video, it is adapted into: If there was one more café, would you go with me?
It is reported that the concept, venue setup, filming, and selection of the female lead and male lead were all handled in-house by the ICAC, without external assistance.
The "1974" café will hold its opening ceremony on Nov. 14 and will be open to the public starting Nov. 15.
