Taobao reported to open HK's first large-scale furniture experience store, expected to launch by year-end
It is reported that Alibaba's e-commerce platform Taobao is set to open Hong Kong's first large-scale furniture experience store in Tsim Sha Tsui, which is expected to launch by the end of this year.
Since August, Taobao has introduced free shipping services for HK shoppers.
Earlier, Ye Jianqiu, general manager of Tmall Taobao World, stated in a media interview that the company plans to invest RMB 1 billion to enhance the shopping experience for HK consumers. The opening of the physical store is part of this broader plan.
Citing market sources, the store, located on the second floor, spans 40,000 square feet and was previously occupied by a luxury brand. Industry insiders estimate that the monthly rent of the store is around HK$500,000.
Taobao's new store will serve as a large-scale furniture experience center. The store will showcase a variety of furniture and will collaborate with local renovation and design platforms to offer "one-stop services", including furniture selection, measurements, design, as well as order placement and home installation services.
