HKO: Standby Signal No. 1 to remain in force until at least 6 pm
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the Standby Signal No. 1 is currently in force and will remain effective at least until 6 p.m. today (Oct. 25).
The Observatory forecasts that tropical cyclone Trami is expected to maintain a distance of more than 600 kilometers away from HK for most of the daytime. Due to prevailing northerly winds and the shielding effect of terrain, local winds generally will not strengthen significantly.
Current predictions suggest that Trami will gradually move towards the vicinity of Hainan Island. At the same time, the northeast monsoon will continue to affect southern China. Under the combined influence of Trami and the northeast monsoon, it will be windy and become cloudy with a few showers over the coast of southern China.
The Observatory will monitor the movement of Trami and local wind conditions to assess whether to issue the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 later today or early Saturday.
