Giant pandas An An & Ke Ke expected to arrive in HK at 11:00
The giant pandas An An and Ke Ke gifted to Hong Kong by the central government took off from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in Sichuan Province at around 9:00 a.m. today (Sept. 26), and are expected to arrive in Hong Kong at 11:30 a.m.
At around 2:00 am today, An An and Ke Ke were transported to the airport from the Dujiangyan panda center's base.
At the scene, a staff member of Ocean Park gave a thumbs-up to the giant pandas as a sign of encouragement.
Giant panda keeper Dong Li and veterinarian Cheng Yan Xi were also present.
The HKSAR government will hold a welcoming ceremony for the arrival of the giant pandas at the airport, which will be attended by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Chan Kwok-ki, and the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung.
