Drone show celebrates 75th National Day with Xu Bei-hong's art
To commemorate the 75th National Day, the Tourism Board will present a drone show titled "Galloping Horses in the Sky" on Sept. 28 (Saturday) at 8 p.m.
This unique performance will feature 1,500 drones illuminating the night sky over Wan Chai, dynamically displaying four masterpieces by the renowned Chinese painter Xu Bei-hong.
For the first time, Xu's magnificent depictions of Six Galloping Horses, Galloping Horse, Leaping to New Life, and Chinese Redbud will grace the skies of Victoria Harbor, aligning with the celebration of the 75th National Day.
Event Details:
- Date: Sept. 28, 2024 (Saturday)
- Time: 8 p.m. (lasting approximately 15 minutes)
- Location: Opposite the Wan Chai waterfront
- Theme: The drone performance will showcase scenes characteristic of Hong Kong and National Day motifs, integrated with Xu Bei-hong's works above Victoria Harbor.
- Note: Some areas along the Wan Chai waterfront may have limited visibility due to viewing angles; the performance will not be visible from the Kowloon Peninsula.
- Additional Information: The performance will be accompanied by synchronized sound effects. Police may implement crowd control measures depending on the situation at the event. Attendees are advised to follow directions from on-site law enforcement officers.
The drone performance will also depict various stages of Hong Kong's transformation from a small fishing village into a glamorous international metropolis, including scenes of fishing villages, harbors, Kowloon Walled City, Lion Rock, Star Ferry, and trams.
In addition to the drone show, the Tourism Board will launch various activities and promotions during National Day Golden Week, including a special edition of A Symphony of Lights – Special Edition for celebration of 75A National Day, discounts at Temple Street Night Market, a free tram day across Hong Kong, and support for the "Celebration of National Day - The Next Generation Chorus Performance" organized by the Tourism Commission, showcasing the unique charm and diverse aspects of Hong Kong to enrich the experiences of residents and visitors alike.
