140,000 mainland tourists flock to HK for Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations
During the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday (Sept. 15-17), the first day witnessed a significant movement of approximately 140,000 mainland visitors traveling southward, marking a 75% increase from the previous week.
According to the Immigration Department's data, 141,274 mainland visitors were entering Hong Kong on the first day of the holiday (Sept. 15), a 75% increase from the 80,750 recorded the previous Sunday (Sept. 8).
The majority of these visitors entered through the high-speed rail West Kowloon Station, which saw 35,113 entries; Lok Ma Chau Spur Line recorded 29,266; Lo Wu had 22,421; Shenzhen Bay saw 20,449, and Heung Yuen Wai accounted for 9,127 entries.
