MSW Charging Scheme suspended

The Government will suspend the implementation of the MSW Charging Scheme scheduled on August 1, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Warner Cheuk said at a joint meeting of the Legislative Council on May 27.

Eight additional Chinese mainland cities will be able to grant individual travel endorsements for visits to Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions starting from Monday (May 27).

The eight newly added cities include Taiyuan in Shanxi Province, Hohhot in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Harbin in Heilongjiang Province, Lhasa in the Xizang Autonomous Region, Lanzhou in Gansu Province, Xining in Qinghai Province, Yinchuan in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and Urumqi in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The scheme now covers 59 cities, including all provincial capitals and capital cities of autonomous regions in the Chinese mainland.

OGCIO to implement targeted measures to prevent data leakage: Sun Dong

In response to the recent spate of computer system leakage incidents involving government departments that compromised the privacy of the public, at the Legislative Council committee meeting on May 29, some Members expressed concern about how the Digital Policy Office (DPO) would ensure data security.

Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong said that at present, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) is mainly responsible for formulating policies and providing technical support.

14 defendants found guilty of conspiring to commit subversion

On whether 16 opposition individuals violated the national security law by taking part in an unofficial legislative primary election four years ago, the High Court starts rendering a decision, and it is expected to take two days for the whole case to be decided.

Among the 16 defendants who pleaded not guilty, 14 of them, including Ng Gordon Ching-hang, Cheng Tat-hung, Yeung Suet-ying Clarisse, Pang Cheuk-kei, Ho Kai-ming Kalvin, Wong Pik-wan, Sze Tak-loy, Ho Kwai-lam, Chan Chi-chuen Raymond, Yu Wai-ming Winnie, Chow Ka-shing, Lam Cheuk-ting, Leung Kwok-hung, Or Yiu-lam Ricky, etc., were found guilty of conspiring to commit subversion, while while acquitting Lau Wai-chung and Lee Yue-shun.
