OGCIO to implement targeted measures to prevent data leakage: Sun Dong
In response to the recent spate of computer system leakage incidents involving government departments that compromised the privacy of the public, at today's (May 29) Legislative Council committee meeting, some Members expressed concern about how the Digital Policy Office (DPO) would ensure data security.
Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong said that at present, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) is mainly responsible for formulating policies and providing technical support.
"Upon the establishment of the new office, the OGCIO will strengthen its inter-departmental steering, leadership and coordination work in order to prevent the recurrence of data leakage incidents," he noted.
Sun disclosed that the Office will soon introduce a series of targeted measures, including ensuring the progress of the design and R&D process during the development stage of the department's technology application systems and introducing stress tests before the launch of the systems.
